“…we are not me

We are we.”

Call Us What We Carry

Amanda Gorman

Who Am I?

I am from the mountains and a land reaped by my grandfather

I am from the self-taught midwifery of my great-grandmother

I am my parent’s dreams and my generation’s hope

I am all who I can be in this adopted land called home.

Yeye Suárez

Welcome

My name is Johanna Wesson Suárez known by a few as YeYe or Yeyé. Creativity and spirituality were my grounding forces to survive the overwhelming layers of being a monolingual, Spanish-speaking, immigrant teen.

Realizing the power that performing arts had to bring people together, I dedicated my life’s work to serve others through creativity. Working in community with youth led me to specialize in mental health,

Searching for collective healing and justice, I cultivated a deeper desire to understand individual and communal defense mechanisms that help us survive the impact of trauma.

Join me to co-create a space where embracing all of who you are is the main ingredient to collaboratively find the way of life that most dignifies your complexity.
